1st Basic Kata Step By Step

 

  • 1. Rei

  • 2. Yoi Heiku-dachi (feet apart one foot length, fists hanging naturally).

  • 3. Turn counter-clockwise 90 degrees, using the hips for power, into hidari (left) zenkutsu dachi (front fighting stance) and execute hidari (left) gedan uke (low block), right hand pulled back into hikite.

  • 4. Step forward into migi (right) zenkutsu dachi (front fighting stance) and execute migi (right) junzuki (front punch) at chudan (middle) level.

  • 5. Turn clockwise 180 degrees, using the hips for power, into migi (right) zenkutsu dachi (front fighting stance) with a migi (right) gedan uke (low block).

  • 6. Step forward into hidari (left) zenkutsu dachi (front fighting stance) and execute hidari (left) junzuki (front punch) at chudan (middle) level.

  • 7. Turn counter-clockwise 90 degrees, using the hips for power, into hidari (left) zenkutsu dachi (front fighting stance) and execute hidari (left) gedan uke (low block).

  • 8. Step forward into migi (right) zenkutsu dachi (front fighting stance) and execute migi (right) jodan uke (high block).

  • 9. Step forward into hidari (left) zenkutsu dachi (front fighting stance) and execute hidari (left) jodan uke (high block).

  • 10. Step forward into migi (right) zenkutsu dachi (front fighting stance) and execute migi (right) jodan uke (hight block).

  • 11. Turn counter-clockwise 270 degrees, using the hips for power, into hidari (left) zenkutsu dachi  (front fighting stance)and execute hidari  (left) gedan uke  (low block), right hand pulled back into hikite.

  • 12. Step forward into migi (right)  zenkutsu dachi  (front fighting stance)and execute migi  (right) junzuki (front punch) at  chudan (middle)  level.

  • 13. Turn clockwise 180 degrees, using the hips for power, into migi  (right) zenkutsu dachi (front fighting stance) with a migi  (right) gedan uke  (low block).

  • 14. Step forward into hidari  (left) zenkutsu dachi  (front fighting stance) and execute hidari  (left) junzuki (front punch)  at  chudan (middle)  level.

  • 15. Turn counter-clockwise 90 degrees, using the hips for power, into hidari  (left) zenkutsu dachi  (front fighting stance)and execute hidari  (left) gedan uke  (low block).

  • 16. Step forward into migi  (right) zenkutsu dachi (front fighting stance) and execute migi (right)  junzuki (front punch)  at   chudan (middle)  level.

  • 17. Step forward into hidari  (left) zenkutsu dachi  (front fighting stance) and execute hidari  (left) junzuki (front punch)  at  chudan level.

  • 18. Step forward into migi  (right) zenkutsu dachi (front fighting stance) and execute migi  (right) junzuki (front punch)  at   chudan (middle)  level.

  • 19. Turn counter-clockwise 270 degrees, using the hips for power, into hidari  (left) zenkutsu dachi  (front fighting stance) and execute hidari  (left) gedan uke  (low block).

  • 20. Step forward into migi (right)  zenkutsu dachi  (front fighting stance) and execute migi (right)  junzuki (front punch)  at  chudan  (middle) level.

  • 21. Turn clockwise 180 degrees, using the hips for power, into migi  (right) zenkutsu dachi (front fighting stance) with a migi (right) gedan uke  (low block).

  • 22. Step forward into hidari  (left) zenkutsu dachi  (front fighting stance) and execute hidari (left)  junzuki (front punch) at  chudan  (middle) level.

  • 23. Yamei.

  • 24. Naorei, into Musubi-dachi (attention stance) position.
